Support for ObamaCare plunges to new low

From Rasmussen Reports:

Just 38% of voters now favor the health care plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats. That’s the lowest level of support measured for the plan in nearly two dozen tracking polls conducted since June.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 56% now oppose the plan.

Half the survey was conducted before the Senate voted late Saturday to begin debate on its version of the legislation. Support for the plan was slightly lower in the half of the survey conducted after the Senate vote.

Prior to this, support for the plan had never fallen below 41%. Last week, support for the plan was at 47%. Two weeks ago, the effort was supported by 45% of voters.

Intensity remains stronger among those who oppose the push to change the nation’s health care system: 21% Strongly Favor the plan while 43% are Strongly Opposed.

Public support for socialized medicine has steadily eroded and has now hit its lowest point ever, dropping 9 points in just one week!  Any intelligent observer would have to conclude that while the 2008 campaign generalities and platitudes sounded nice to some naive people, now that Americans have gotten a good look at the reality of such a program they have decided that it is not in their best interest.

Given that, and the fact that the congress is allegedly comprised of our “public servants”, one would expect the House and Senate to drop the matter.  But they will not.  Why?  Because this is not about giving the people what they want.  This does not even have anything to do with a concern for the health care needs of Americans.

This is about the power and control that comes with government dependency.  Neal Boortz summed it up well today:

ObamaCare = Entitlement = Dependency = Control = Power

This is the biggest power grab in the history of the republic.  It is time for us to do some heavy lifting.  It is time for us to do our part to earn the right to share the label of American with people like Nathan Hale and Joseph Warren and Samuel Adams.

Let’s not let them down, my brothers and sisters.  Now is the time for all good men and women to come to the aid of their country.

These statist bastards have no idea that they have truly awakened the sleeping giant.  Let’s make our forefathers proud.

Speech bounce fizzles, Opposition to ObamaCare hits new high

9-9-2009 ObamaCare SpeechRasmussen Reports is reporting that the bounce in polling numbers enjoyed by President Obama after his speech to a joint session of congress is over.  In fact, opposition to the plan is at its highest level ever.

One week after President Obama’s speech to Congress, opposition to his health care reform plan has reached a new high of 55%. The latest Rasmussen Reports daily tracking poll shows that just 42% now support the plan, matching the low first reached in August.

The most serious (and hopeful, from my perspective) numbers from the polling data reflect that the President has lost the independents and did not sway them with his speech:

Seventy-four percent (74%) of Democrats now support the plan while 80% of Republicans are opposed. Among those not affiliated with either major party, 67% are opposed.

The latest figures show that, overall, 23% Strongly Favor the plan and 44% are Strongly Opposed. In late August, those figures were 23% and 43% respectively.

He has lost this debate but his immense hubris will not let him accept that harsh reality.

I continue to wonder who the independents are who were fooled by this charlatan during the election but have subsequently wizened up.  If anyone reading this voted for Obama but does not support ObamaCare, please comment on this post.  I am curious as to what made you come around: did you believe he was a centrist during the election or have you simply reconsidered whether socialized medicine will be better for you than your current coverage?

POTUS Approval drops to 45%

The latest Rasmussen Reports poll shows President Obama’s approval rating hitting a new low: 45%.  Additionally, the “Approval Index”, which is the Strongly Approve number minus the Strongly Disapprove number is at -11%.

Obama remains in a free fall

To mark this continuing decline, Aaron Gardner make a short video:

Heh.  I like the teleprompter hat.

UPDATE: Gallup has his approval rating at a dismal 42%.  Perhaps people are waking up.
