Col. Jack Foley, fine American

The father of a good friend of mine passed away yesterday unexpectedly.  I only met him once, at his daughter’s wedding, and that was brief.  But I have heard enough stories about him to admire what he did with his life.

Jack Foley served for almost 28 years in the US Air Force, including combat tours in Vietnam flying an F-4 Phantom, and was also a wing commander in England during Desert Storm.  His daughter has told me stories over the years of living in Greece and Alaska and other interesting locations as an Air Force brat.  After retiring from the Air Force, Col. Foley taught/certified pilots for FedEx.

He devoted most of his adult life to the service of his country and for that he was a damned fine American.  His family has asked that donations be made in his name to the SPCA.

My heart goes out to the people that the Colonel left behind.
