Support for ObamaCare plunges to new low

From Rasmussen Reports:

Just 38% of voters now favor the health care plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats. That’s the lowest level of support measured for the plan in nearly two dozen tracking polls conducted since June.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 56% now oppose the plan.

Half the survey was conducted before the Senate voted late Saturday to begin debate on its version of the legislation. Support for the plan was slightly lower in the half of the survey conducted after the Senate vote.

Prior to this, support for the plan had never fallen below 41%. Last week, support for the plan was at 47%. Two weeks ago, the effort was supported by 45% of voters.

Intensity remains stronger among those who oppose the push to change the nation’s health care system: 21% Strongly Favor the plan while 43% are Strongly Opposed.

Public support for socialized medicine has steadily eroded and has now hit its lowest point ever, dropping 9 points in just one week!  Any intelligent observer would have to conclude that while the 2008 campaign generalities and platitudes sounded nice to some naive people, now that Americans have gotten a good look at the reality of such a program they have decided that it is not in their best interest.

Given that, and the fact that the congress is allegedly comprised of our “public servants”, one would expect the House and Senate to drop the matter.  But they will not.  Why?  Because this is not about giving the people what they want.  This does not even have anything to do with a concern for the health care needs of Americans.

This is about the power and control that comes with government dependency.  Neal Boortz summed it up well today:

ObamaCare = Entitlement = Dependency = Control = Power

This is the biggest power grab in the history of the republic.  It is time for us to do some heavy lifting.  It is time for us to do our part to earn the right to share the label of American with people like Nathan Hale and Joseph Warren and Samuel Adams.

Let’s not let them down, my brothers and sisters.  Now is the time for all good men and women to come to the aid of their country.

These statist bastards have no idea that they have truly awakened the sleeping giant.  Let’s make our forefathers proud.

Rick Perry: Obama “Hell Bent on making USA Socialist”

TX Gov Rick PerryThis is an administration hell-bent on taking America towards a socialist country.

If you disagree strongly with Gov. Perry on that assertion, chances are you are simply sympathetic to the socialism that Obama loves so dearly.  I do wonder whether you are a Loser Socialist (parasite) or a Benefactor Socialist (elitist self-appointed politburo member), but since both groups believe in slavery to the state the distinction is not that important.

If you feel that way perhaps you should go live in Europe for a few years to see how the standard of living compares and enjoy some of that socialized medicine rather than trying to push my country into that “only good for the losers and the rulers” misery of collectivism.

Churchill put it well, didn’t he?  And he might as well have been discussing ObamaCare .  With 85% of Americans happy with their health insurance, ObamaCare is just another case of trashing the entire system to be most conducive to the needs of the least ambitious, biggest losers in our society.  But everyone knows that this is not about health care at all but is instead about dependency and the power that it generates and cements.  Obama, Reid, and Pelosi do not care one bit about your health care.  They simply want to control you via the best means possible.  They are egregiously dishonest and power hungry statists.

One year ago today…

Yeah … that’s when the voters elected Barack Obama. If you’ve been scanning the Internet you’ve seen no shortage of news stories about disappointed – and sometimes disgusted – voters who actually thought they were voting for some type of wonderful change in Washington.

I think the retrospective on Obama’s first year should really be saved until the one-year mark from his coronation, not the election. I will say this … Obama has been far worse than I would have ever imagined. Any promises he made about transparency and bipartisanship in Washington have turned out to be a complete joke. He has shown absolutely no understanding of the role of capitalism and our free markets in the creation of our amazing standard of living in America. He has treated the Constitution as a nuisance rather than a blueprint for governance.

For many years I’ve been talking about politicians who believe that America’s greatness comes from government. Obama is the embodiment of that principal.

Others have said this .. but Obama is completely in over his head. This is a job he was simply not prepared to handle. He became president not on the basis of accomplishment, but on the basis of charisma and a well-orchestrated campaign. His election was a crowning achievement of our system of government education. He certainly has the potential of destroying this country as we know it. The ballot box still works … for now. I truly believe that 2010 may be the last chance we have to save our Republic from the likes of Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Frank, Rangel, Waxman, Hoyer and the rest of the statist crowd.

I agree with Neal.  I knew that it would be bad, but I was thinking Bill Clinton in 1993 bad, not Russia in 1917 bad.  I was naively hopeful in a post that I did on inauguration day, knowing that he would be a leftist but hoping that he would gain some sense.  Instead, Mr. Obama has simply shown himself to be an empty suit charlatan blinded by his slave-to-the-state ideology.

Make Mine Freedom

Bugs Bunny MinutemanIf you watch an old Bugs Bunny cartoon you will often notice something that seems absent in today’s offerings.  It’s patriotism and pride in America.

There was a time when the creative people in America who made cartoons and movies and television programs actually used their talents for good rather than evil, a time when that flavor of individual was still proud to be American and still appreciated the principles and concepts that made America great.  I don’t know when that line was crossed, when it became fact that almost all such people pine for theoretical collectivist systems that destroy freedom.  Perhaps it coincides with that time decribed by Ronald Reagan as when the Democrat party left him as opposed to the often-suggested opposite.

This brilliant 9 minute cartoon, titled Make Mine Freedom, was produced by John Sutherland in 1948 and does a good job of demonstrating the ism’s that claim to offer a utopia but in fact only destroy freedom and prosperity.  All of the points made in this timeless video are incredibly applicable now as Americans debate, and in some cases actively work to prevent, Mr. Obama’s stated intent to “remake” America.

In the video, a snake oil salesman who could easily be Barack Obama tries to sell his tonic of “ISMs” t0 the naive representatives of labor, management, and politics.  Before they readily agree to the contract trading their freedoms for security, another character representing the regular people implores them to have some sense and shows them what the results would be.

Big Hand of the StateWarning the industrialist about the future, the image is of the big Hand of The State throwing the man out of his factory, declaring:

The State is the supreme court.  Our decision is as follows.  No more private property.  No more you.

Then a line that could be taken from today’s news describing the tactics of the Obama administration:

When anybody preaches disunity, tries to pit one against the other through class warfare, race hatred, or religious intolerance you know that person seeks to rob us of our freedoms and destroy our very lives.  And we know what to do about it.”

One year.  Let’s keep our heads on straight and fight this holding action until we can take back our government.

The video closes with this statement:

Do not let yourself confuse false security with freedom.

Hey Democrats: You DO Lie!

Joe-Wilson-You-Lie-photoIn my decades of political observation I have observed one absolute fact: you can never trust a statist to tell the truth, because the truth that they are hiding always involves their plans to make you more and more of a slave to the government.

As we all now know, even though Rep. Joe Wilson’s choice of time and place for his outburst was unwise, Joe Wilson was telling the truth and Barack Obama was lying and obfuscating.  As anyone who is not drinking his personality cult Kool Aid knows, Barack Obama consistently plays word games and obfuscates in order to hide his real statist, anti-freedom agenda.  Simply put, Barack Obama is a lying piece of [expletive deleted].

Writing at the Macon County Conservative Examiner, Robert Moon spills the beans on the Democrats’ lies about their deceitfully-named health care “reform”:

Every single Democrat on the Senate Finance Committee has voted down an amendment to ensure that this government takeover will not involuntarily force people out of the coverage they want.

This has been an central talking point of Obama’s from the beginning: ”If you like your insurance, you can keep it.”

We’ve seen this time and time again. As I previously noted, Democrats also indignantly rejected any notion that ObamaCare would end up covering illegal immigrants…but then turned around and voted down every single attempt to add any kind of verification measures to the legislation.
 
And then I also pointed out how Obama-apologists insisted that HR 3200 wouldn’t be used to fund abortions…only to turn around and reject any and all amendments to actually ban such funding…and now this.

Actions speak louder.
 
This is why Democrats keep losing ground with the American people.
 
This is reminiscent of Obama’s campaign pledge made repeatedly in 2008 against imposing any tax increases “of any kind” on people making less than $250,000/year…which he already violated when he passed a national tax hike on cigarettes.

When politicians tell you that you will not have to change to their plan, but then refuse to put that into the bill, they are showing themselves to be lying sacks of excrement.  Period.

When the Democrats and their water carriers in the mainstream media vehemently deny that their socialist health care plan will cover illegal aliens while they vote down any attempt to put that into the bill, they are not only lying to you, they are insulting your intelligence.

Then when they scoff at the notion that their Soviet-style health care takeover will cover abortions but then refuse to put that restriction into the bill it simply defies all believability.

The only conclusion that I can draw from all of this is that the Democrat Party geniunely believe that we are morons and that with the aid of their accomplices in the mainstream media, like the perennial advocate for the Left Charles Gibson, they can say whatever they want secure in the knowledge that they can get away with their lies.

GALLUP: Americans think gov’t doing too much

Gallup has released polling data related to Americans’ opinion of whether the government is doing too much or too little.  The results partially renew my faith in Americans and their increasing rejection of the aggressive agenda of the most radical President in US history.

That 21 point split between the “too much” and “too little” response is heartening, but as you might expect the party of dependence and collectivism continues to worship government like a deity:

All of the change in the “too much regulation” direction came among Republicans and independents. Democrats have remained roughly constant across the past year in their feelings on this issue. In both years, Republicans are the most likely to believe that there is too much regulation of business and industry, while Democrats are the least.

I find that staggering.  In my opinion it shows that Democrats have an undying love for government and what it can take from others to give to them.  Who the hell are these people?  Obviously, they are a combination of elitist benefactor socialists and their dependent loser socialists.  While their motivations may be different, both groups believe that government owns you.

This poll also shows what many other polls continue to indicate: President Obama and his hard-left colleagues have lost the independents, the people who [for some inexplicable reason] gave him the White House.  I submit that they have lost them forever as many independents believed the 2008 fairy tale that candidate Obama was a moderate as opposed to a hard-left ideologue.  As President, Mr. Obama has completely disproven that ridiculous notion.  He is such a hard-core ideologue that he does not even have the sense to triangulate, moving to the center as Bill Clinton so famously did.

Gallup’s conclusions:

The fact that Americans are more likely now than a year ago to say there is too much regulation of business is notable, given all that has happened over the last 12 months.

The White House has shifted from a Republican to a Democratic administration, and President Obama has pushed aggressive stimulus packages and government involvement in industry and healthcare. The government has spent huge amounts of money investing in two business sectors — the automobile and banking industries — under the assumption that large companies in these industries would have failed without government intervention. These actions, and the recognition that some failed businesses, particularly those in the investment banking sector, have previously operated without much government oversight, could in theory have caused an increased appreciation for governmental regulation. That has not occurred.

Instead, the current findings underscore that the average American is less appreciative of increased government control over business during the past year, rather than more so.

 This appears to undercut Newsweek’s fantasy cover from earlier this year:

Meacham and Thomas were certainly very hopeful, but that was back in the euphoric days of early February when Mr. Obama seemed unstoppable.  What is funny is that contrary to the title, they do not make a good case at all that we are “all socialists now.”

Like President Obama and his party, they are rediscovering that America is indeed a center-right country.  Data from polls like this one from Gallup likely have them crying over their wine and brie.

Scott Rasmussen is reporting the results of a phone suvey on the subject of health insurance.  Not surprisingly, it shows that the less successful among us are highly supportive of the proposition that the government seize yet more property from the successful people in order to subsidize their own lifestyles.  Before you start pulling 0ut the President’s numbers, debunked long ago, check out these brand new statistics from the US Census Bureau (Hat Tip to Mark Perry at Carpe Diem):

What these numbers show is that a significant percentage of the “uninsured” are without insurance because they feel that they have better things to do with their money.  My position has always been that if you “cannot afford” health insurance then you should a non-smoker/non-drinker, should be driving a 10+ year old car, carrying a bottom-of-the-line cell phone, and watching a small set of channels on an old tube-style television.  We all know that is not the case – most of these people simply do not want to spend their money on health insurance.  This is not unlike the person in line at the grocery store who segregates their groceries into two piles, one with approved foods that the WIC program covers and the other pile things like beer and cigarettes – things that they are willing to spend their money on.

Perry quotes Professor Thomas Sowell on the issue of affordability and the uninsured:

As for those uninsured Americans who are supposedly the reason for all this sound and fury, there is remarkably little interest in why they are uninsured, despite the incessant repetition of the fact that they are. The endless repetition serves a political purpose but digging into the underlying facts might undermine that purpose. Many find it sufficient to say that the uninsured cannot “afford” medical insurance. But what you can afford depends not only on how much money you have but also on what your priorities are. Many people who are uninsured have incomes from which medical insurance premiums could readily be paid without any undue strain (see chart above).

I am curious as to whether anyone has done a real study of income and tax paying as it relates to political affiliation.  This simple chart, taken from Rasmussen’s data, shows what I think that most of us know: that the least ambitious in America reliably support the party of redistribution.

Proof once again that the unsuccessful stick with the party of class warfare and collectivism.  They never seem to realize (or care) that they are just parasites living on the Democrat plantation.

This health care bill is not about reform. It is about government interference and control. Strange that the US Supreme Court ruled in Roe vs. Wade that abortion is a matter between doctor and patient. However, according to the Democrats, the rest of the doctor-patient relationship is negotiable.

If the bill was simply about government insurance that was voluntary and available to people who paid premiums, that would be one thing. But it’s not. It’s about government’s complete control of the doctor-patient relationahip. The government decides, not patients. How did the human race survive the last 10,000 years without Obama and Company???

Indeed.  The entire Democrat position on this is a massive straw man argument with the statists painting an unattainable utopia and then trashing the current system because it does not measure up to their technicolor fantasy.

Joe Wilson had nothing on me, I was yelling at our empty-suit POTUS throughout his speech, which was typically full of obfuscation and word games.  Soaring rhetoric with no real substance.  POTUS did lie about illegals but of course the Left and their advocate journalists in the lapdog media let him get away with it.
